New Statoil pump price record
Norway’s motorists are set to notice another rumbling in their wallets following the company’s latest petrol cost zoom.
Statoil Fuel and Retail Norge were in poll position last Wednesday with a price of 14.83 kroner per litre for 95 Octane, but have now lapped themselves with today’s 14.88 kroner.
The company’s head of information, Pål Heldaas, tells news agency E24 that the latest hike is due to continuing high oil prices on the world market.
These have remained high throughout the winter, partly due to the conflict with Iran, one of the world’s most important oil producers. The cold European winter has also pushed prices up.
Mr Heldaas told E24 last week that the latest rise is due to “the attacks on pipelines in Nigeria and Syria, as well as tightened US sanctions against Iran”.
