Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has now granted its AoC (Acknowledgment of Compliance) to the semi-submersible COSL Innovator drilling rig, meaning it is approved for NCS operation.
The rig is now at Westcon’s yard in Ølensvåg, western Norway for final equipment installation. It is expected it will remain there for two to three months before drilling for Statoil at Troll.
Drilling Europe owns the COSL Innovator, which was built at the Yantai Raffles Shipyard in China. Nymo in Grimstad built the drilling package supplied by National Oilwell Varco. The rig is designed for drilling in water depths up to 750 metres (approximately 2,460 feet).
