Stavanger-based shipping company Møkster is to send its newest supply ship to the Barents Sea as part of commitment to the north, the company reports.
According to spokesperson Idar Hillersøy, Møkster has established a new company in Hammerfest called Møkster Polar.
He tells Aftenbladet, “As most offshore shipping companies are concentrating on Brazil, we’re focusing more strongly on possibilities in the Barents Sea instead.”

Mr Hillersøy says it is custom built and equipped for cold climates, with amongst other things heating cables in walkways and banisters.
DNO has leased the ship for exploration drilling purposes. Mr Hillersøy says, “The “Stril Polar” contract lasts 45 days, initially, but we’re hoping for an extension, as well as further assignments in the north.”
Møkster Shipping also currently has contracts with Eni in the Goliat field, Marathon Oil Norge in the North Sea, and will begin work for Maersk Oil Norge.
