Norwegian gas exports at record highs
Exports of Norwegian natural gas reached record levels in January, reports say.
10.43 billion cubic metres (BCM) of dry gas and 441,000 tonnes of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) were exported last month, accounting for 62 percent of Norway’s total energy exports in January.
The report from magazine G21 shows this was the highest-ever level of Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) natural gas exported in Norway’s 34-year gas export history.
January’s exports of gas were equivalent to 122.3 terawatt hours (TWh). Natural gas made up 62 percent of Norway’s total 196.5 TWh energy export in the same month.
The NCS aggregate value of dry gas and LNG exports was almost as high as the total value of crude oil exports.
Total export values for five different types of wet and dry gas products were 26.6 billion kroner, whilst those of crude oil equalled 26.7 billion kroner.
Net power exports for January, mainly from hydropower, were also high, ending on 1.9 TWh. This corresponds to about one percent of Norway’s total energy exports in January this year.
