Islam

Salam Aleykoum even to non muslims! I am a Romanian muslim and I wear a HIJAB. I would like to ask all against MUSLIMS and all against HIJAB if they are against the MUSLIMS which are originar Norweagians or Dutch or British etc? After that question I would like to ask who is against GOD? When you will really know the truth about Islam an muslims, then please come and discuse more politely about people, because now every body says we are in 21st century and we fight for human rights. Yes, in muslims countries the muslims don't have big rights, but we trust in GOD and no one of the leaders of those countries which are against real muslims, finishes good. If YOU have rights WE have, too!

What are our values?

I am in favour of helping people but when it comes to them imposing on "our" values we MUST draw the line. I have lived in The Netherlands for many years and see the same problems slowly arising here. I am glad FRP has the standpoint that they have! The govt should look at other countries and their experiences and learn from them. If we accept their values, are our values accepted in their country, I dont think so! We are living in Norway a country with old and good values and we should keep it that way. They must fit it or must move out!

The matter was raised when Aftenbladet wrote about Keltoum Hasnaoui Missoum, who asks the police department to consider whether she can use her hijab during her police-training and later in service.

“If we look a couple of years ahead, the use of the hijab and other religious head-wear with the uniform will be usual,” thinks Police Superintendent, Geir Gudmundsen of Rogaland police district.

He was also positive to the proposal when TV Vest interviewed him about the matter on 26th September.

Oslo Police stated on Wednesday that they were positive to the use of the hijab with the police uniform.

“ Rogaland police district has not received a request from the Police Department to state their view on the matter, and we have therefore not discussed this internally in the leadership,” says the chief of police.

Gudmundsen stresses that his personal opinion is that it should come as a natural part of developments in society. He hopes that such an adaption will make it easier to recruit also women of various cultural backgrounds.

”We are supposed to reflect society at large, and need to adapt in order to ensure wide diversity within the force,” he says.

The chief of police points to other countries which have a high level of multi-culturalism, and where the advantage of such an adaption has been recognized. ,

tolerance

Innsendt av Jabril de Lucha, 30.10.2008 14:09:58

It is just ironic, because Norway is such a tolerant country as it is, and of course people always ask for more. In the face of acceptance and exile, it is still not good enough. I have lived here for several years and never taken a penny from the government or asked them to change the way they function on account of my own preferences.

It's a bold statement, when the Police Chief, who represents internal protection and security for and of the people, caves in so easily in the name of Political Correctness. Perhaps he should go to my country, the USA, and take up a job in politics.

Incompetent politicians

Innsendt av Nora Borgersen, 30.10.2008 11:55:11

As long as all but one political party in Norway accept all kinds of strange claims from Moslems, we will have a tough struggle. Fortunately we have a party called Fremskrittspartiet (The Progressive Party) which wants to reduce immigration and meet Moslem immigrants with true understanding of our values. The Progressive Party has managed to become the biggest party among the non-socialistics. It is quite a result because they are permanently being accused for being islamophobic, hostile to strangers and even racists. I believe in Norwegians much more than the Sweedish when it comes to refusing idiotic ideas from the Establishment and the media. I think the Norwegians will wake up in time. I write this to help my Sweedish friends. I love Sweden. I hope the best for you. DO NOT GIVE UP!!!

Direction

Innsendt av Jabril de Lucha, 30.10.2008 10:53:32

Come on people, lets get with the times. I was just in Turkey, TURKEY, where hijabs are not permitted in any goverment job. I too am a foreigner, but would never dream of imposing my customs/beliefs upon this country, esp. not a government entity. We are GUESTS here, no matter how long we live here. I too am religious, but would not ask to express my views in such a way. In the name of multiculturalism Norway just continues to sympathise with its foreign residents which will ironically result in self-destruction of its own culture. I used to be taken aback by Norwegian nationalism, but now I kind of miss it.

Innsendt av Nadarajah Sethurupan, 29.10.2008 20:51:47

France has banned the wearing of hijab in schools or police , This kind of people will ask to change Norway name like Norkistan within a couple of years.
